The WBA are recording a new album
  • they did an interview with Rolling Stone Mexico. I really dont have time to make the full translation, but esencially says they are not angry at us for what happened with Erlend and his glasses, they want to come to Mex early next year but Erlend doesnt know when he`s coming back with kings of convenience :-( that people think the musicians own a lot of things and he doesnt, that the stolen glasses were unique, a copycat raybans and he couldnt find something similar, but he has glasses again and he wants to be back and play in Monterrey. Anyway, the interesting part is the first one:

The Whitest Boy Alive will return to Mexico
    For PGR

The German guys in The Whitest Boy Alive are in the studio working on what will be their new album, the successor of Rules. Erlend Øye revealed some details about this material in this exclusive interview, he also said he hopes to premiere it the next year on our country, a place against he doesn’t bear any grudges, despite what happened with his glasses last year.

I know you are working on a new album, how is it going?
Yes, we are working on a new album. I just was in Berlin for two weeks and we were doing a lot of demos. We're still working on the songs, but I hope that when we go to Mexico, we already have some
songs we can play live. The guys are excited; I think they still have many surprises under their sleeves. I love the things we have done so far, the musical decisions and mashups of the drums we have done.
I really love to record with them.

You can read the rest of the interview (in spanish) here: http://www.rollingstone.com.mx/noticias/the-whitest-boy-alive-regresa-a-mexico/

Anyway, I think its excellent they are doing a new album, I just wish they would hurry and be back as kings of convenience soon...
  • Thanks, looking forward to that!
  • That sounds rather exciting. I look forward to the new record. Rules has proved to be a very long lasting record for me... Not that there weren't any new songs on the 2nd record, but there were a couple of old Erlend songs on there as well (Promise Less and Dead End had of course already been on Myspace before Dreams, and Island is a REALLY old song in Erlend-universe :) ). So it'll be nice to see a fresh batch of new songs and I hope they take it all to an even higher level. And hopefully destined for release in 2011 :) ?
  • ^^ I really think they are going to premiere some new songs in mexico. It seems they are coming at the end of January, so I`ll keep you post it and of course Im going to try to record something... Also, it seems facebook is the new myspace, and they have an official profile now: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Whitest-Boy-Alive-Official/167667043267721

Im really getting tired of opening new profiles every time a website becomes "in". Can`t we just decide for one and stay there for god's sake! :-p
  • I agree, myspace is more than enough (or was - the new version is so rubbish that I don't want to use that anymore either).

Facebook seems to be all the rage now but I don't understand it and can't be bothered to figure it out.
  • They just posted on Facebook that they're "back in studio."
  • so, I might have a chance to make an interview with them... could you help me with some questions? something you want to ask?
  • - Are WBA more a live band than a studio band? Since record and live feel are very different, what does represent WBA "the best"?
    - How are they able to keep shows original and fresh (and the songs?) With this many live performances, it must sometimes be hard to give every night 100% and experience it 100%?
    - What are the possibilities for WBA to go to? How do they see this project evolve?
  • thanks Stef! great questions!!! they are definitely in :-)
  • Good... Do you know when the interview will take place? Or is it all still very uncertain?
  • it is uncertain, unfortunately, cause I know they hate interviews.. but well, crossing fingers here... :-)
  • I assume KOC related questions are not allowed? :p
  • haha, I dont think so... they are, ehem, easily offended :-p.. still no news :-(
  • Something about their art work and graphic profile maybe? If it is of importance to them?
  • Actually there is something I always wondered: Why is the song "1517" called that?
  • @Antje : well i read an article and it said that the song is closely related to the Reformation in 1517.

  • Wow, who would have thought it! lol But thanks. :)
  • so, I think the interview is not going to happen, which is a shame but I knew it was too good to be true :-(  oh well, I promise I will give you full report if someday God or whatever is nice with me :-(
